Certificate on Good supervision

The MIN Faculty at Universität Hamburg is supporting both doctoral researchers and their supervisors on their academic journey, which has become increasingly demanding.
The Certified Supervisor Training at the MIN Faculty provides supervisors and co-supervisors of doctoral researchers with strategies for effective supervision and for tackling various challenges that may arise. The training consists of two parts, each of which can be attended individually.
Certified Supervisor Training
Target Audience: Professors and Supervising Postdocs
Format: Part 1: workshop two mornings in-person:

Participants will receive a certificate “Certified Supervisor” upon completion of the series (both parts). If only one part is attended, participants will receive a certificate of attendance.
Next Level: Workshop for Experienced Supervisors
Format: ½ day afternoon workshop, June 5, 2026, starting 1 p.m., Elbinsel Kaltenhofe
Target Audience: Experienced supervisors who have supervised at least five doctoral candidates as the main supervisor. Alternatively, you may have co-supervised many doctoral candidates or gained other relevant experience.
Are you already well acquainted with doctoral supervision and looking for strategies on how to make your supervision even more efficient and fruitful? And would you like to share your insights and be yourself inspired by other experienced supervisors? Then you will find this advanced workshop very relevant. The setting is a ½ day afternoon workshop. The teaching form is highly interactive, based on your case, scholarly reflections and exchange of best local practices among experienced supervisors at the MIN faculty. The workshop is facilitated by two internationally leading educational developers within the field of PhD supervision. This is a chance to take your supervision to the next level!
