Lecture series Part II: Demand-oriented and energy-efficient ventilation in research laboratories
Wann: Mi, 18.02.2026, 10:00 Uhr bis 11:00 Uhr

In molecular biology research buildings, approximately 80 % of energy consumption is attributable to ventilation systems. Ventilating laboratories with high air exchange rates serves to protect employees from hazardous chemicals. However, working methods have changed significantly in recent years. This raises the question of what type of air exchange is actually necessary.
The presentation will discuss the applicable rules and guidelines in the context of current working conditions, present risk analyses and potential savings, and outline implementation processes. In addition, a renovation project at the Max Delbrück Center will be reported on, in which new ventilation concepts are being tested.
