We recommend that you take time to think about the type of equal opportunity environment you want in connection with your project. As such, you are welcome to cite existing types measures or examples. The MIN faculty is continually developing existing measures and introducing new ones to reach the goals for structural equal opportunity for all members of the faculty detailed in the Equal Opportunity Plan. The fundamental intention is to achieve equal participation of all genders in the higher education sector and to create the necessary conditions for balancing family life and an academic career with the goal of making full use of existing ability and talent potential for research and teaching. Mentoring programs, workshops, seminars, and networking events specially designed to promote career advancement for women have proven especially useful in achieving gender parity. Many of these programs are projects carried out in cooperation with the clusters of excellence, other faculties and institutions at Universität Hamburg, and specialist centers. Working to increase gender percentages already begins with female high school students, however. See the school portal for special open house days and other projects especially designed for them. Childcare service offers for parents and information events are available to improve the underlying conditions for balancing family life and an academic career for researchers. Members can also receive financial support for emergency childcare. Further options for funding equal opportunity measures are available through the structure-enhancing measures which all faculty members are eligible to apply for. In addition, the MIN Faculty and the Pro Exzellenzia program have teamed up to offer scholarships to female doctoral and early career researchers. The faculty participates in discussion events and workshops to encourage the exchange of information and underscore the relevance of the topic of diversity at higher education institutions.
