Project-specific package of measures
To promote equal opportunity of researchers in the respective disciplines, some external funding providers offer specially earmarked budgets for equal opportunity measures (see below). This funding can be acquired as part of the application procedure. A project-specific package of measures contains a well-conceived and feasible outline of how this funding is to be used during the course of the project. It is important that the planned measures are a good fit for the project and the people involved.
Before creating a concrete concept, you should first get an overview of your (future) team members and their needs:
- Is there a need to raise awareness in regard to various dimensions of diversity?
- Is there a structurally disadvantaged group of people (within the field) who?
- Which measures are designed to support certain groups of people and which can be offered to the
entire project group?
- Do some people have care-taking responsibilities and require support in reconciling family life and
work?
The answers to these questions will form a basic framework for compiling a selection of measures.
You can find inspiration for the specific measures in the following databases:
• Equal Opportunity Database of Universität Hamburg (in German)
• INKA: a database funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) with quality-tested equal opportunity measures
