In case that employees of the Universität Hamburg are in need for a short-term child care, they have the opportunity to use the parent-child-rooms. The rooms, which can also be used by pregnant women and mothers as a rest or nursing room, can be at the MIN locations in Bahrenfeld, Grindel and Stellingen.

Within the framework of the Equal Opportunities Plan, the MIN Faculty supports researchers with parental responsibility, who are required to take on non-regular tasks, by participating in the financing of additional individual childcare, which often involves substantial costs.

Once a year, SCaP addresses issues that are a barrier to family responsibilities, such as temporary employment contracts. This event will be held in English and will be organized by the MIN faculty together with CUI: Advanced Imaging of Matter, CliSAP, Quantum Universe and the Family Office of the UHH.

The inter-university network "Close the Gap" is intended to provide scientists with family responsibilities, who share similar problems as a result of the pandemic with the opportunity to exchange ideas on a cross-disciplinary and collegial basis. For this purpose, various events and network formats will be offered during the project.
