Counseling for New Arrivals
No matter whether you just arrived or are well on track of your doctoral studies, bureaucracy in Germany can be a challenge, especially for foreigners. Since January 2015, academic tutors offer weekly consultations for doctoral researchers on administrative issues or general questions about the life in Hamburg.
Weekly consultations for doctoral researchers
If you have any questions about topics such as
- What possibilities do I have to start my doctoral research at the MIN Faculty of Universität Hamburg?
- How to finance my PhD?
- What are the first steps after my arrival in Hamburg?
- Who offers support at the various steps?
- Where can I find housing, insurance, sports club and many other things?
You can contact our academic tutor Lukas Hardi at any time by sending an e-mail to tutor.min@uni-hamburg.de. You may also schedule an appointment for face-to-face counselling, either conducted virtually via Zoom or in person. See the tutors’ office hours and contact information below.
Lukas also offers walking tours for doctoral students at regular times. You can find out about upcoming walking tours and register for them on this Discord server.
