Counseling for Internationals
No matter whether you just arrived or are well on track of your doctoral studies, bureaucracy in Germany can be a challenge for foreigners. Since January 2015, academic tutors offer weekly consultations for international doctoral researchers on administrative issues or general questions about the life in Hamburg.
Weekly consultations for international doctoral researchers
If you have any questions about topics such as
- What possibilities do I have to start my doctoral research at the MIN Faculty of Universität Hamburg?
- How to finance my PhD?
- What are the first steps after my arrival in Hamburg?
- Who offers support at the various steps?
- Where can I find housing, insurance, sports club and many other things?
You can contact our academic tutor Kai-Fu Wong and Juliane Lenz at any time sending an e-mail to tutor.min@uni-hamburg.de. To schedule an appointment for virtual counselling via Zoom please contact us. The counselling occurs during the tutors’ office hours.
Kai and Juliane also offer walking tours for doctoral students at regular times. You can find out about upcoming walking tours and register for them on this Discord server.
In case you have questions regarding admission to a doctorate please consider visiting the Min Doctorate Gateway.
Please note: If you have concerns not related to the questions above, we encourage you to also contact the MINGZ Doctoral Representatives.
