During the postdoc phase, a variety of reasons can lead you to consider leaving the university and pursuing a career outside academia. Possible career paths may include working in non-university research or founding your own company. There are numerous contact points in Hamburg that will support you in your decision making and work with you to develop career strategies for entering the non-university job market.
Hamburg Research Academy
The Hamburg Research Academy (HRA) offers tailored support for young scientists who aim at a career outside of academia as part of the career program "Takeoff - Strategies for Starting a Non-Academic Career". The program offers insights into various occupations and provides guidance on applying for jobs to support the transition into the non-academic job market.
At the HR Development Department of Universität Hamburg, you can obtain advice on career decision-making processes and on transitions in business, society or science management within the framework of the program Compass: Qualification and Orientation for Early Career Researchers. You will receive qualified feedback on your application documents and can attend workshops about how to gain access to the non-university job market.
