Travel Grants
DAAD-Funding
- Scholarship Database of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD / GAES): only available in German
- Fact Finding Missions: Support of collaborations with partners in developing countries at university level.
Application deadlines may vary, at least 6 weeks prior to the scheduled trip.
- Congress- and Lecture Trips: contribution to the conference fees, DAAD travel and subsistence allowances. (Only available in German)
Applications for funding of congress trips have to be submitted to DAAD at least 4 months prior to the first congress day.
Applications of lecture trips have to be submitted to DAAD at least one month prior to departure.

Procope-Mobility
The French Embassy in Germany awards mobility grants to doctoral students, post-doctoral students and young researchers working in Germany for a research stay in a laboratory or research institute in France.

Travel Grants and Corporate Funds (UHH)
(Young) researchers and students at the UHH can apply for travel subsidy for research purposes or attendance at conferences through the University's Foundations and Corporate Capital.
Applications have to be submitted at least 4 weeks prior to departure.
Research Exchange of Universität Hamburg
One month research stays at a UHH partner university abroad (in Australia, Japan, Taiwan, China, England, South Africa and USA).
Application deadlines may vary.
Exchange and Cooperation
DAAD-Funding
- PAJAKO - Partnerships with Japan and Korea: Funding to strengthen existing and initiation of new bi- or trilateral scientific partnerships between German and Japanese and/or Korean universities. (Only available in German)
Eligible applicants: Faculties, departments, institutes and professors.
DFG-Funding
- Initiation of International Collaboration: Trips abroad or guest visits in Germany (both up to 3 months); Exploratory workshops
Application is possible at any time, at least 3 months in advance.
Eligible applicants: Postdocs working in the German scientific community.
- DFG-Funding for International Scientific Events: Funding for the organisation of international specialist congerences, international congresses, symposiums and/or workshops, as well as recurring events of national significance with international participation
Application is possible at any time, at least 6 months prior to the start of the event.
Eligible applicants: Postdocs working in the German scientific community.
Short-Time Lectureship (ERASMUS)
The Staff Mobility - Teaching Assignment (STA) program offers teaching staff the opportunity to carry out a short-term lectureship at an Erasmus partner university. The minimum stay is 2 days.

Alexander von Humboldt Stiftung
The Alexander von Humboldt Foundation offers a wide range of funding opportunities for research stays abroad and short-term lectureships for scholars at all career stages.
Eligible applicants: postdocs, professors, young professionals
COST - Short Term Scientific Missions
Short Term Scientific Missions under the European Cooperation in Science and Technology (COST) enable research stays of 5 to 90 days (up to 180 days for early-career researchers) at institutions in other COST member countries. They support the exchange of methods and the development of international collaborations. Funding is also available for university faculty, provided their institution is involved in the relevant COST Action.
Memorandum of Understanding (MoU)
Stays abroad of researchers, students, employees to and from the non-European countries within the framework of a Memorandum of Understanding.
Eligible applicants: faculties, departments, institutes and professors.
Research Exchanges of the UHH
One month research stays at a UHH partner university abroad (in Australia, Japan, Taiwan, China, England, South Africa and USA).
Application deadline: annually at the end of May.
