Lichtenberg Endowed Professorship
Through the Lichtenberg Endowed Professorship, the Volkswagen Foundation supports outstanding scientists from innovative and interdisciplinary fields. The intention is to attract internationally leading scientists in promising and high-risk fields of research to universities. Further 3 million euros from external funds are a prerequisite.
Lichtenberg Endowed Professorships at the MIN Faculty
Prof. Dr. Dyckerhoff (Start 2018)
Higher structures, categorified homology, and the topological A-model
As part of his Lichtenberg endowed professorship, Prof. Dr. Dyckerhoff researches higher algebraic and geometric structures.
The focus is on applications to topological quantum field theory. This is intended to lead to the development of a novel theory of categorified homological algebra providing effective tools for mathematics and physics.
In the long run, the interdisciplinary goal in this general context consists of the description of a physical theory, the topological A-model.
