International Staff Training Week 2026: Internationalization of STEM subject
STEM Collaboration, Networking & Best Practices Exchange
Dates: 4 August – 6 August 2026
Application deadline: 30 March 2026
From 4 August until 6 August 2026 the Faculty of Mathematics, Informatics and Natural Sciences (MIN Faculty) at University of Hamburg (UHH), Germany ,will organize an International Staff Training Week. This will be the second such event the Faculty has hosted.
We invite colleagues from International Offices (priority), whose university is offering STEM or STEM -related study programs. We also invite educational, administrative and internationalization staff from international institutions offering or working in STEM or STEM-related study programs to participate in the 2-day program on the “Internationalization of MIN Subjects”.
The program includes workshops as well as presentations and discussions on experiences, challenges encountered and solutions adopted in the fields of internationalisation. STEM-focused topics anticipated to be covered include, among others, internationalization strategies, international student mobility, international M.Sc., internationalization at home, academic orientation in MIN subjects for international students, measures for winning top-class MIN students from abroad and best practices of international work. Beside the presentations, workshops and discussions, there will be opportunity of networking through social events. The working language is English.
The main objectives of the International Staff Week are:
- Exchange of best practices of international activities among colleagues working on or interested in higher education internationalization
- Developing networks with a focus on the internationalization of STEM subjects and STEM-related subjects
- Exploring potential areas of collaboration/strengthening existing contact or collaboration with the different departments of the MIN Faculty, UHH and the participants’ institutions
- Promotion of international mobility of STEM students
We are planning to host a maximum of 30 participants. If we receive more applications than there are places available, then there will be a selection process based on the best match for the MIN Faculty, which will assist in maximizing the outcomes of the International Staff Week. In case of great demand, it is possible that only one participant per institution may be accepted. European participants may be able to apply for an Erasmus+ Staff Training Week grant in order to cover eligible costs related to this mobility through their own institution’s International Office.
This is a good opportunity to get to know our MIN Faculty and University.
