Academic Mobility

• PAJAKO - Partnerships with Japan and Korea: Funding to strengthen existing and initiation of new bi- or trilateral scientific partnerships between German and Japanese and/or Korean universities. (Only available in German)
  Eligible applicants:  Faculties, departments, institutes and professors.

• Scholarship database of the German Academic Exchange Service: Find and apply for scholarships.

• Fact Finding Missions: Support for university collaborations with partners from developing countries.
  Application deadlines vary. Applications can be submitted up to 6 weeks before the planned trip.

• Congress and lecture trips: DAAD travel allowance, grant towards conference fees, accommodation allowance.
  Participation of German doctoral candidates, doctoral students and university lecturers in congresses abroad and lecture tours abroad.
  Applications for funding for congress trips abroad must be submitted to the DAAD at least four months before the first day of the congress.
  Applications for funding for lecture trips abroad must be received by the DAAD at least one month before the start of the trip.

Through the Erasmus program, university lecturers and young academics can apply for financial support for teaching stays at European partner universities.

• Duration: 2-10 days (+ arrival/departure)
• Teaching load: at least 8 teaching hours per stay (or 4 if combined with further training)
• Funding: per diem (€140-180), travel allowance (€180-530)
• Application: possible at any time, at least 1 month before departure via Mobility Online (only with UHH e-mail)

The Alexander von Humboldt Foundation offers a wide range of funding opportunities for research stays abroad and short-term lectureships for scholars at all career stages. 

Eligible applicants: postdocs, professors, young professionals

Short Term Scientific Missions under the European Cooperation in Science and Technology (COST) enable research stays of 5 to 90 days (up to 180 days for early-career researchers) at institutions in other COST member countries. They support the exchange of methods and the development of international collaborations. Funding is also available for university faculty, provided their institution is involved in the relevant COST Action.

(Early career) researchers and students at Universität Hamburg can apply for grants for research and conference trips via Universität Hamburg's foundation and corporate assets.

Applications must be submitted at least 4 weeks before the start of the trip.
